Are you an English speaking, ambitious, experienced school teacher up for a new challenge in Amsterdam? Would you enjoy teaching in English and do you have experience (or affinity) with thematic teaching? Then it’s you we’re looking for! Because our school continues to grow, we are in need of an enthusiastic teacher to come teach the Upper school groups 7 and/or 8 for two or three days a week in English.  

You would become a part of an inspiring and enthusiastic team of teachers, assistants and various specialized teachers. The school is known for it’s openness and it’s colleague’s who are eager to lend a helping hand. You would primarily be teaching thematic lessons to groups 7 and 8 using the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Together with the other group teachers you would prepare thematic milestones and learning goals. This is done also in cooperation with the various specialized teachers: English, music, visual arts and gymnastics.  Because the Visserschool is a bilingual school, it would be helpful if you were able to understand Dutch and able to speak it a little as well.  

This employment opportunity is at the Visserschool, the first bilingual elementary school in Amsterdam West. The Visserschool is located in a beautiful building on the Columbusplein in the Baarsjes neighborhood. The school presently has 280 pupils and is growing in numbers due to the strong advance of bilingual education in the city. The Visserschool is a global school in Amsterdam representing more than 40 nationalities. At least 30% of our lessons are given in English and our pupils also learn much about different languages, cultures and countries.

Qualified teacher with experience in primary primary education. Knowledge and understanding of the Dutch language. Experience with IPC or thematic work is a plus.

Op de Visserschool geven we minimaal 30% en maximaal 50% van de tijd les in het Engels. De overige lessen vinden plaats in het Nederlands. Daarmee zijn wij de enige basisschool in Amsterdam die deze vorm van tweetalig onderwijs verzorgt. Dit doen wij inmiddels al 8 jaar, sinds 2014!
